SCOPE OF WORK / PROJECT SPECIFIC

Installation around operations.

The final scope depends on site assessment, agreed responsibilities and applicable approvals.

Equipment erection & installation

  • Mechanical equipment positioning and installation
  • Equipment bases, anchor systems and alignment support
  • Skid, package-unit and utility equipment interfaces
  • Service access, guards and maintenance clearances
  • Pre-start-up checks and punch-list closeout

Pipework & utility networks

  • Plant service piping and mechanical utility distribution
  • Compressed-air, water and non-process service lines
  • Valves, fittings, strainers and equipment tie-ins
  • Pipe supports, guides, hangers and access platforms
  • Pressure checks, flushing and pipe identification

Steel, fabrication & supports

  • Structural steel, equipment frames and support steel
  • Pipe racks, cable-support structures and brackets
  • Platforms, ladders, stairways and handrails
  • Site fabrication, fit-up and assembly
  • Corrosion protection and industrial coating interfaces

Industrial electrical interfaces

  • Machine feeders, local isolators and distribution points
  • MCC and motor-control equipment connections
  • Cable trays, flexible conduits and field junction boxes
  • Equipment earthing and electrical identification
  • Coordination of controls, interlocks and commissioning

Modifications & live-site interfaces

  • Brownfield alteration and extension works
  • Planned shutdown and controlled tie-in scopes
  • Permit-to-work and isolation coordination
  • Temporary services and continuity arrangements
  • Phased reinstatement and documented completion

Practical deliverables.

  • A package boundary and interface register agreed with the site team
  • Workfront readiness, access and shutdown coordination
  • Installation, verification and handover records for the agreed scope

Before defining the scope

01What should an industrial enquiry include?

Identify the equipment or utility system, the scope boundary, operating status, permitted work window and the site’s contractor qualification requirements. Site-specific approvals and execution capability are confirmed before a commitment is made.

02What belongs in a contractor prequalification review?

Start with the facility’s required work category and document list. Review the applicable company records, personnel qualifications, relevant scope evidence and site-specific requirements before agreeing mobilisation. Identify which approvals belong to the contractor, the proposed personnel or the particular work package, and check their scope and validity with the issuing party where required.

03What must be included when pricing a shutdown work package?

Define the approved work window, access and readiness conditions, material availability, installation limits, inspection stages and the facility’s acceptance process. Assign responsibility for isolation authorisation and return to service to the appropriate facility team. Also agree how a delayed start, changed condition or incomplete item affects the scope and programme before the work window begins.
